Frosted Maple Cookies Recipe

Sugary maple cookies with crisp edges, chewy centers, and maple icing. Sprinkle sparkling sugar on them for added beauty!

INGREDIENT

-2 ½ cups all-purpose flour -1 teaspoon baking powder -¼ teaspoon baking soda -½ teaspoon ground cinnamon -½ teaspoon fine sea salt -1 cup lightly packed brown sugar -¾ cup unsalted butter softened -½ cup pure maple syrup -2 egg yolks -1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract For the frosting: -1 tablespoon unsalted butter room temperature -2 cups powdered sugar sifted -¼ cup pure maple syrup -½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract -½ teaspoon maple extract -Tiny pinch of salt -1 tablespoon milk -sparkling sugar for sprinkling optional

INSTRUCTION

Mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside. A paddle-attached electric mixer or stand mixer can froth sugar and butter in a large bowl for 3 minutes.

Step 1

Mix maple syrup, egg yolks, and vanilla on medium speed until smooth. Gently whisk in flour.Cover and chill dough 1h.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Set up silicone or parchment baking sheets. Set aside.Divide dough 2 inches apart on baking sheets with a medium cookie scoop.

Step 3

Bake 17–19 minutes in preheated oven until rims are golden and centers solid. Cool on a wire rack after quickly cooling on the baking sheet.Freeze cookies.

Step 4

Mix butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, maple extract, salt, and half the milk in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or large electric mixer bowl.

Step 5

Beat slowly until integrated, then speed up and mix for 2-3 minutes. Get desired consistency with remaining milk.Icing cookies. Adding coarse sparkling sugar.
